During the interview, Mercy Eke was asked if she has ever been in love, to which she answered:
MERCY EKE: The thing is I used to think that I was in love but what I feel right now versus what I used to feel. Now, if I have small issue with my guy, my whole mood will change. I wasn’t experiencing this at the times I thought I was in love. Like, if it’s over, it’s over. You will know that I will move. I won’t come. But now, not just talking to my man, my whole day is ruined. I might be in bed all day. I may not want to do anything, but I will stll be forming I’m okay. But I’m not okay. I just want him to call me.
So now, I feel like I wasn’t really in love at the time. Maybe it was just something that I was just enjoying, and then when he says ‘it’s over’ or I say ‘it’s over’, nobody will try to re-connect, because there is nothing to bring us back, or bring me back, or him back. I used to say even to my guy that I don’t go back to my ex. Like, it’s a pride thing for me. But now, I feel I’ve gone back to him.
Then, she was asked what makes this particular relationship stand out to her, to which she said:
MERCY EKE: I think it’s because he’s very intentional with me, and not just with me, but with my life. It’s not just about the moment with him, it’s also about what’s happening tomorrow. “How was your day? What have you planned for yourself for next week? What if this thing doesn’t go?” He’s someone that is always checking up, that wants to know what happens next. I think that’s what makes him different.
